Planned overhaul of Bohunice NPP units 3 and 4
It is the first time since 2004 that overhauls at two Bohunice units are carried out in parallel. Each unit will be in a 25-day maintenance.

Slovenské elektrárne, an Enel Group Company, starts today a general overhaul of Bohunice Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4 which will last until June 7th, 2016. In addition, on May 14th, 2016 Slovenské elektrárne will also start planned general overhaul at Bohunice NPP Unit 3, meaning that for 25 days both units will be under maintenance works.

These overhauls are the second and third within the 2016 scheduled overhauls plan of Slovenské elektrárne nuclear power plants. It is the first time since 2004 that overhauls at two Bohunice units are carried out in parallel.

During the 25 days of planned parallel overhaul, Slovenske elektrarne will secure contracted electricity volume and heat supplies to its customers and business partners with no impact for people leaving in the vicinity of V2 Bohunice NPP other than absence of steam from the plants cooling towers, which is usually visible during plant’s operation.

Heat supply for power plants and households in Hlohovec, Leopoldov and Jaslovske Bohunice will be provided from auxiliary boiler house of JAVYS. Households in Trnava will be supplied by Trnavska teplarenska from its own backup source.

Outages and repairs are standard parts of the life-cycle of every nuclear power plant and they are performed according to long-term scheduling process. In addition to planned maintenance of components and systems, partial refueling for both units is planned within the overhauls.

Slovenske elektrarne’s 2016 scheduled overhauls plan will end in autumn with the general overhaul of Mochovce NPP’s Unit 2.
